The SEVA Studios are a joint project with Sacramento Educational Cable Consortium (SECC), the Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission (SMCTC), and school districts to create, encourage and enhance media education in Sacramento County. The project offers training opportunities and equipment assistance. Student-created school news programs have regular air time on educational cable each week to highlight the use of the SEVA Studio Labs and share what’s going on at local schools. SEVA Studios Update for the 2020-2021 School Year
SECC re-imagined its annual SEVA Grant Funding Program to respond to the immediate needs of SEVA teachers and students during this unique and challenging remote learning time. After meeting with teachers, SECC began the task of finding a SEVA distance learning solution that would work for the nearly 2,500 students involved in this year’s SEVA program. Where possible, existing studio equipment was repurposed in order to allow students to broadcast from home. Through SECC’s partnership with the Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission, new SEVA Studio Home Edition kits were designed and purchased. Kits were delivered as quickly as possible and students got right to work broadcasting from home. SECC also created new virtual trainings through #SEVACON to assist students in their new adventure. Learn more about the kits on the SEVA Training Page or see some of the work students are creating from home as part of the Share Your Story Project.
