Representatives from school districts across Sacramento County have created the Family Engagement Forum. The goal of the forum is to engage families so they can actively support their student’s learning and development in meaningful ways. Each week, videos selected by the local districts containing vital information for families are shown on SECC Channel 15. SEVA Teachers
SECC coordinates the SEVAs (Student Educational Video Awards), a free educational video contest for Sacramento County students. We receive submissions from K-20 students across the county in five different categories including: Creative Expression, Documentary, Instructional, Public Service Announcement and School News. A panel of judges watch every video and use our rubrics to select the top videos in each category.
The SEVA program provides students with the opportunity to express themselves, be creative, collaborate, problem solve, improve organization, communicate, write and develop self-confidence. Our number of submissions grows every year with over 1400 students participating annually.
The SEVA Teachers Community encourages all media / SEVA teachers to get together and share what is going on in their classrooms. It’s the perfect opportunity to collaborate, share resources and learn new production techniques and ideas from colleagues.
