About the SEVA Studio in Sunrise Elementary School in the Elk Grove Unified School District:
Sunrise Elementary School’s SEVA Studio was founded in 2016. In their first year they brought home a SEVA Award and a Honorable Mention. They have also expanded their studio space. The students at Sunrise use this space to create Spartan TV, a news program run by students in 2nd through 6th grade. These students create, write, film direct and produce segments for Spartan TV including “Every Role is an Important Roll” which highlights positions on campus that are not as well known. This segment allows students to showcase these individuals’ hard-work and thank them for everything they do on campus.
The SEVA Studio at Sunrise gives students the opportunity to have hands on experience with technology and equipment while simultaneously learning life skills such as communication and collaboration that will help them succeed in whatever path they choose.
About SEVA Studios:
The SEVA Studios are a joint project with SECC, the Sacramento Metropolitan Cable Television Commission and school districts to create and encourage video production in schools with training opportunities and equipment assistance. Student created school news programs have regular air time on educational cable each week to highlight the use of the SEVA Studio Labs and share what’s going on at local schools.
