There is never a dull moment in the SEVA Studio at Arden Middle School. Students that participate in the advanced media class get to create Arden Student News, and each group of students take full advantage of the opportunity to let their individuality shine. Watching students use their imagination in order to share important school information with their peers is part of what brings their media teacher Mr. Rowland to work everyday. These students aren’t just using their creativity, they are also learning skills that they will utilize no matter where their future takes them. Students build on their native technological skills in class and are able to quickly able to produce a daily student news broadcast. More importantly, through producing they learn collaboration, communication, problem solving, project management and more. When these soft and hard skills combine, Arden students are able to create a daily broadcast that not just tells important information, but expresses it in a way that makes their peers remember. Arden’s media program has created an amazing group of young filmmakers who help strengthen their entire school community.
