SEVA Award
Creative Expression: 7-8
Program Title: The Transitive Property
Producers: James Hu, Ayra Bandeli, Grayce Honsa
School: Winston Churchill Middle School
Target Audience: Everyone
Program Idea: We started our idea as an intro for a much longer documentary about being gay. We have a very close friend who is gay and it hurts them to see the word gay used as an insult. We agreed with her on this topic and thought that this needed to be said. We got a lot of inspiration from other sources and came up with a monologue comparing math class and life. We began with a whole ‘nother idea, however as we developed this, it became more clear that a more precise message gets the point across the best.
Message: The message of our SEVA is that homosexual is no less than heterosexual. That the word gay should not be used as an insult, because being gay shouldn’t looked down upon or viewed as less than straight. People often comprehend these lessons better when we connect it with something in regular life.
