SEVA 2016 Allan Hinderstein Award
This year’s Allan Hinderstein Award is honoring an incredible teacher who is dedicated to her students, school and fellow teachers. She embodies the spirit of the Hinderstein award by bringing her unique approach to her school and community.
Erica Swift is a computer resource teacher in the Elk Grove Unified School District. All students at Herman Leimbach Elementary School benefit from Erica’s commitment to using technology as a tool for opening a world of learning possibilities. Her video production lab is a hub of interactivity, with students collaborating on a wide range of projects. With Erica’s guidance, there are no boundaries to creativity. In addition to supporting student-led on-site projects, our honoree arranges for her students to go off campus as reporters to capture stories in the moment from the surrounding community for their monthly news program and for use on the SECC channels.
Erica Swift empowers and challenges students to explore the world through media and to share their vision within and beyond their community.
