Nearly 70 students at Cordova High decorated the campus with blue ribbons in support of officers, after the tragic loss Sacramento County Sheriff’s Deputy Mark Stasyuk.
Stasyuk was a four and a half year veteran of the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department and was assigned to the Rancho Cordova Police Department as a patrol officer. He also worked as a school resource officer for another school district in the Rancho Cordova community. He was killed in the line of duty on Sept. 17.
Cordova High was one of many schools that wanted to show their gratitude for their own school resource officers and other local first responders by decorating their campuses with blue ribbons. The Cordova High effort was organized through the school’s counseling office, which provided ribbons to students.
The City of Rancho Cordova provided blue ribbons to residents, businesses, schools and community members in an effort to honor fallen deputy Statsyuk, and the #HonorBlue4Mark is being used on social media with photos of various locations decorated with blue ribbons.
