Proud Sac State alumnus Daniel Hahn now leads the Sacramento Police Department, following a swearing-in celebration that drew more than 1,000 community and campus leaders to the University Union Ballroom on Aug. 11, 2017. “I can’t think of too many places that are more important to our city, and our community, and our youth, and the future of our community than my alma mater, Sac State,” Chief Hahn told the crowd after his swearing-in. Among those on hand for the celebration were Sac State President Robert S. Nelsen and Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg.
Hahn grew up in Sacramento’s Oak Park neighborhood and rose through the ranks as a Sacramento police officer and captain. He served as police chief of Roseville from 2011 until he was appointed to the Sacramento post, the third consecutive Sacramento chief to be “Made at Sac State.” #StingersUp
