Welcome to the 35th Annual Student Educational Video Awards (SEVA) Celebration Page!
The Student Educational Video Awards were held at the historic Hiram Johnson High School Auditorium on Sunday, April 28, 2024. In-person attendees were able to walk the red carpet and interviewed by student and professional paparazzi. The Award Ceremony will began at 6:00PM and was live-streamed on SECC Comcast 16 and on secctv.org in addition to the in-person event. The event celebrated the hard work of all SEVA Students and their SEVA Teachers. The culminating live award show followed a two-week countdown celebration with Finalist Announcement Week and Defining Moment Recognition Week.

Do I have to come to award night to win an award?
The SEVAs can be celebrated both in person and at home. However, the ability to accept an award on stage in front of your peers is a truly special experience. SECC encourages all who are able to attend in person.
How much does the event cost?
The SEVA contest is free to enter for all students in Sacramento County. Awards Night is free to attend and parking at the event is free.
How many people can I bring?
Please bring those who would like to join in the celebration while considering that there is limited capacity at the venue. You are encouraged to share the livestream information with extended friends and family.
Is there a dress code?
There is no official dress code for the event. SECC encourages students to be comfortable and take this time to show off their style.
How can I bring my paparazzi crew to the red carpet?
Details about red carpet crews are sent out to teachers as the event approaches. You can always send an email to secc@secctv.org to reserve your spot in advance.
Will I be video recorded at the event?
SECC will livestream the Awards Ceremony on SECC Comcast 16 and YouTube.
Will students be busy during the entire event?
Starting at 5PM, student producers are encouraged to walk the red carpet and take advantage of the SEVA selfie station and other photo opportunities. Starting at 6PM, the award ceremony begins and attendees are encouraged to stay for the entire presentation.
How long does Award Night typically last?
The Awards Ceremony itself begins at 6pm and is usually about 90 minutes. Since it can be disruptive to exit during the ceremony, attendees are encouraged to stay for the full event.
What happens if I win an award?
If your video is awarded an Honorable Mention or SEVA please feel free to make your way up to the stage to accept your award. Most producers choose to make a brief acceptance speech at that time.
Will there be food at the event?
There is no food available at the event, and food is not allowed in the auditorium. Water bottles are allowed inside.
