21st Century Skills: Social Skills – Support & Inclusion
Lesson Overview
Fitness stations – Students have a set amount of time to perform exercises at various fitness stations throughout the class period. Students self-assess their performance and they observe their partner’s performance as well. Students use their performance results as a tool for setting future fitness goals. Students have the opportunity to evaluate their partner and how the comments they made throughout the activity made them feel.
21st Century Skill
Social skills in the classroom shape the learning environment. It is crucial to establish classroom norms that teach and support social skills to create a safe learning atmosphere where students have the opportunity to take risks, grow and learn. This concept relates to the student’s ability to interact socially outside the classroom and in real-world situations.
