A new era of science learning at Sac State! A groundbreaking ceremony from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 18, will launch the construction of the University’s new 96,631-square-foot Science Complex, scheduled to open in June 2019 near the Hornet Bookstore, south of the Guy West Bridge. The complex will have glass-walled research and teaching labs that put science on display to the outside world, and 30 cutting-edge biology and chemistry labs will be outfitted with the latest instruments. The complex also will include two spaces to engage schoolchildren and the Sacramento community: a 2,500-square-foot planetarium with 120 seats for full-dome, high-definition “sky shows,” and a roll-back rooftop observatory housing telescopes for viewing the night sky.
