Student DV award

SECC-produced Student DV Wins Distance Education Award
SECC is pleased to announce that its Student DV project won an Affinity Group Award, or AFFY, that honors distinguished Distance Education projects in California. "Students have a voice and many visions to share and through Student DV, we can help get their message out to a broader audience," says SECC Production Manager Doug Niva.

The award goes to a project that is intersegmental, makes effective use of technology and is a model for effective student/teacher accommodations and for distance and distributed education.

The Affinity Groups comprise ADEC's (Alliance for Distance Education in California) membership and include K-12, community college, four-year colleges and universities, lifelong learning and business. ADEC is an association of more than 200 professionals dedicated to the development of distance learning.

High Performance Teachers:
Leading Students to Success

New studies offer compelling evidence that confirms what many have always known: teachers are the single most important factor in raising student achievement. Yet, teacher preparation, recruitment and compensation systems developed during the 20th century do not fully address 21st century challenges.

The Teacher Incentive Fund program is the Administration's signature initiative to develop and implement performance-based teacher and principal compensation systems in high-need, disadvantaged schools. Learn how we can prepare all teachers to lead our students toward success in today's world.

Digital Video

SECC's Digital Video Starter Kit program expanded this year, thanks to a grant from the Gannett Foundation and News10 in Sacramento. Together with SECC matching funds, 13 new kits were created and SECC's board members each selected one school in their district to receive the kit. The equipment is to be used for school-related student video projects and, each year, the school site needs to submit at least two videos to the SEVA contest.
